The water reaches temp in seconds, and then an automatic pre-immersion step blooms the grounds, soaking them for 30 seconds to cause the coffee to swell for a deeper, more complete extraction of flavor. Added to this, Moccamaster’s Ultra-Precise Drip System uses a 9-hole shower arm instead of a single drip, raining water over the whole basket, not just in one spot; again, a big impact on flavor.
